Help shape City of Darwin's Youth Strategy 2022 - 2026

City of Darwin’s current youth strategy Young Darwin 2016 - 2021 is due for renewal. Our new Youth Strategy 2022 - 2026 will articulate a five year vision that will promote and support the wellbeing of young people aged 12 to 25 who live, work, study and play within the municipality.

Council wants to work collaboratively with the community, young people and their families to develop Youth Strategy 2022 - 2026 and create a city where young people are supported to achieve their potential.

Our Youth Strategy 2022-2026 will drive the strategic direction of Council’s work in relation to young people, consolidate achievements and strengths of Council’s preceding youth strategy, and consider existing and emerging youth needs and issues.

Thank you for your recent participation in consultation to support development of City of Darwin's 2022-2026 Youth Strategy. We had feedback from:

345 young people via our online survey
    37 parents
52 people participated in group workshops
    16 one-on-one sessions

A draft strategy has been developed around four priorities responding to key themes that were identified from the feedback we received:

    • Diverse Darwin*
    • Safe & Supported
    • Creating Pathways
    • Working Together

    * we're still working on getting the name right for this one - suggestions are welcome

We are asking for your feedback on these key priorities.

NB This strategy is focused on broad outcomes rather than outputs. The who, when, what will be articulated in an accompanying implementation plan to be reviewed and updated annually.
